Length of movement

This is LōM

LōM is movement shaped through intention, precision and flow. Grounded in a deep respect for the body and the love of movement itself. Each class is designed to build strength, control and endurance through continuous, deliberate movement. Transitions are considered, effort is sustained and alignment is maintained throughout, creating a practice that is both challenging and refined.

At LōM, movement is not rushed or repetitive. It is guided, connected and purposeful. Strength is developed with control. Control with awareness resulting in a body that is not only stronger, but more capable, balanced and resilient over time. All for the love of movement. With a number of group and private classes available, there is space for you to begin and the support to keep going.

Come as you are. Start where you are.

There is no perfect time to begin, only the decision to show up. Whether you are new to movement or returning to it, LōM is a space where you can build strength, feel supported and create something that lasts.

Join a class. Begin your journey.

Classes

Mat Pilates

A strength based, bodyweight practice designed to build control, stability and length. It is about reconnecting to the love of movement, moving with intention, and developing strength that feels as good as it looks.

Reformer Pilates

A refined, full body practice that uses resistance to challenge strength, control and stability. Through intentional, continuous movement, grounded in the love of movement and the pursuit of strength with purpose.

Yoga

A grounding, fluid practice that combines breath, movement and stillness to create balance and ease within the body. Guided by the love of movement. Time to slow down, release tension and reconnect with yourself.

Tai Chi

A grounding, mindful practice that combines slow, controlled movement, breath and focus to create balance, calm and ease within the body. Guided by the love of movement, Tai Chi supports mobility, coordination and quiet strength while helping you reconnect with yourself.

Franco Human

Franco has been in Group Exercise for over 25 years.  Specialising in Zumba Fitness from dance to Strong by Zumba and Zumba for kids.  You might remember him as The Guy in the Green Shorts some years back when he used to be the regular fitness instructor on the Expresso Show on SABC 3.  He saw a change in his scope when he qualified in Pilates and Reformer Pilates.  Loving his journey in Pilates he wants to share this new love of movement by creating LōM for you.

This new path excites him as he has come to realise how important flexibility, mobility, conditioning and strength are in one’s training programme.  These are often forgotten and are vital in our daily lives.

Lydia Hannan

Based in Cape Town, Lydia is one of the most dedicated Pilates instructors. With over 20 years of experience in the fitness industry she is known for her supportive yet challenging approach in every class.

She helps clients improve strength, mobility, posture, and overall well-being through intelligent, mindful movement. Lydia’s classes blend energy and precision, creating an environment where beginners feel welcomed and long-term clients stay motivated for years.

Whether in group sessions or private training, her passion lies in making Pilates both accessible and transformative for every body.

“Strong body, centred mind, better you.”

Lee-ann Elliot

Lee-Ann Elliott is an 500-hour RYT-qualified yoga teacher and mat and reformer Pilates instructor who has been teaching since 2015. She brings a thoughtful, informed approach to movement, with a strong focus on building strength, supporting bone density and maintaining muscle mass for long-term health.

Living with Type 1 diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis, Lee-Ann has a deeply personal understanding of the challenges that can come with maintaining an active body. These experiences have shaped her approach to teaching, grounding it in empathy, adaptability, and a strong emphasis on listening to the body while still building resilience and strength over time.

In 2022, her journey into triathlon led her to Pilates as a powerful tool for rehabilitation and injury prevention. Through this, she developed a deep appreciation for the role of core stability and the importance of strengthening the smaller, supportive muscles around the joints.

Lee-Ann is passionate about guiding clients through both mat and reformer Pilates, encouraging them to build trust in their bodies and to lean into challenges that foster growth and resilience. Her teaching is grounded in the belief that movement is a privilege and an essential part of living well.

She often reminds her clients that while the best time to invest in our future bodies may have been years ago, the next best time is now, it is never too late to begin.

Her classes offer a welcoming space to move with intention, explore new challenges and enjoy the process, leaving behind the pressure of perfection and rediscovering the value of play.

Nina Winkler

Nina is an author of 50 books and well-known journalist of some hundred workout articles for magazines such as Shape, Cosmopolitan and Women’s Health. She walks her talk: Holding numerous certificates in the field of fitness, she is a licensed Jivamukti yoga teacher and a trained Pilates and Reformer coach.

Her classes clearly have a precise and athletic approach, but always come with a spiritual intention and a ton of what she thinks are funny remarks. You might hear her say in class like: Sweat is fat that cries.

Nina teaches her Sports&Soul retreats and seminars regularly in Thailand, in her birth country Germany and her heart home South Africa. Why Cape Town? She says, “This is the root chakra of the world. Energetically, it doesn’t get any more intense, raw, wild and free like here. Where else do you feel so alive?”

In her spare time you can find Nina trail running, kickboxing or simply beach bumming with her family.

She is a mother to a teenage son and a senior labrador with a huge appetite for exercise and treats.

She is deeply into Human Design and a 6/2 ego manifestor.

Courtney Gassert

Courtney is a Certified Personal Trainer and Pilates Instructor. Her Pilates journey started way back when she was 17.

She quickly saw the difference in her body…more strength, control and balance. She realised how well Pilates complements strength training. Above all, she just loves movement. She truly believes movement is healing and she is passionate about helping you find that connection too.

Talitha van Biljion

Talitha is a yoga and Pilates instructor helping both men and women reconnect with their bodies, build strength, and move with confidence.

With years of experience, she has seen how powerful movement can be. Not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. Whether you’re starting out, rebuilding, or pushing to the next level, my approach focuses on alignment, strength, and sustainable progress.

This is a space where you can show up as you are, move with intention, and feel stronger in your body and mind.

Rafeeqáh Galant

Rafeeqáh is a tai chi and Chinese martial arts instructor with ten years of dedicated practice, underpinned by fifteen years in martial arts and an earlier foundation in gymnastics and body conditioning.

She founded Social Tai Chi out of a deeply personal relationship with the discipline and now joins LoM. Tai chi gave her the tools to calm her thoughts, focus her energy, and build a meaningful connection between mind and body.

That mind-body connection is at the heart of everything she teaches. Through her classes, Rafeeqah hopes to inspire others to cultivate their own links between mental and physical wellbeing.
